Emergency Action Plan for La Crete Public School Basketball Provincials

Emergency Communication:


A phone is located in the main gym office on the desk. This phone can be used in case of an emergency. Another phone is located right outside the main gym doors behind the gate table.

Emergency Equipment:


AED’s are located outside of both of the main entrance’s boot rooms (gym/library entrance and front entrance).

Fire extinguishers are located in the gym, beside the AED at the gym/library entrance, and above couches immediately through first set of doors in the library hallway.

First Aid kits are located in the gym side office, and in the main office on the East side of the school.

Emergency Access Routes:

Ambulance Access:

Primary Entrance - Turn off Main Street to back of school (teacher parking lot) and park by the back gym entrance.
Secondary Entrance - Park in the fire lane in front of the school, in front of gym/library entrance.Fire Truck Access: Park in fire lane in front of the school.
Fire Exits: Exit the building through the exit shown on the map in consideration of your current location.

Emergency Personnel:


Charge Person - Team Coaches
Call Person - Assistant Coaches or person from Host Team
Control Person - Assistant Coaches or person from Host Team
Gopher - Whomever is chosen

Emergency Procedure:


A) Immediate Care of the injured or ill athlete from the Charge Person (Coach)
B) Emergency equipment retrieval (Gopher)
C) Activating the E.M.S.
i) Making the call - Dial “911” (provide name, address, telephone number, number of individuals injured, condition of injured, first aid treatment, specific directions, other information as requested.) (Call Person)
D) Direction of E.M.S. to scene
i) Designate individual to “flag down” E.M.S. and direct to scene (Control Person)
ii) Open appropriate Doors (Control Person)
iii) Scene Control: Limit scene to First Aid providers, and move bystanders away from area. (Control Person)
