About the Keynote Speaker … Jelena Mrdjenovich

Jelena Mrdjenovich is an 8X World Boxing Champion from Edmonton, Alberta. At 5’7, Jelena Mrdjenovich grew up like many of the high school athletes that will attend our provincial tournament. Her passion was basketball and the competitive drive and love for the sport drew the attention of the University of Alberta Pandas basketball team. It wasnt long into her tenure with the Panda’s that she tore her ACL. While convalescing, she watched boxing on TV and her father, a long-time boxing fan, suggested that she might find it a good sport. She headed to the gym once she had healed up, and never looked back.

Since her days with the Panda’s Jelena has fought over 50 professional fights, with 39 wins, 10 losses, and 2 draws. More impressive than that is the 20 wins coming through a knockout. Sturgeon Composite is proud to support our local champion’s professional endeavours by sending students to Champs Boxing Studio in downtown Edmonton to experience just small sampling of her passion, drive and pursuit of excellence. If a small peice of her rubs off on all of them we cant imagine the success they will find in their own lives.

Sturgeon Composite is very honored to welcome Jelena as our Keynote, there is not a better story of persistence, passion and perserverance through adversity than hers.
