1A, 2A, 3A and 4A All go this weekend

More than a thousand players from 104 teams will compete for 24 medals at 8 championships on 15 courts in nine cities and towns over three days.

Welcome to March Madness, Alberta style.

This weekend marks the culmination of months of hard work and dedication for high school student-athletes from across the province, who will look to achieve their ultimate goal of winning goal at the 2017 Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association championships.

Whether it’s the largest schools in 4A or the rural representatives of 1A, from bustling Calgary to tiny Bawlf, the intensity on the court and support in the bleachers reach levels not seen at any other time during the year.
“The ASAA Championships are not only the highlight of the school basketball season but the highlight of many careers,” Basketball Alberta Executive Director Paul Sir says. “It is a special accomplishment to be part of the pursuit of excellence and a lifetime of pride and memories can come in an abundance for all who are part of this event.”

If you love high-level hoops, the joy of amateur sport, or simply events that bring communities big and small together, the ASAA championships are not to be missed.
That’s why we’ve compiled our complete guide to all the action happening from Thursday (March 16) to Saturday (March 18). Below you will find a complete list of game venues, participating teams, final times, and links to each championship’s website.

Please be sure to acknowledge all the coaches and volunteers, who make this all possible. Best of luck to all the participants! We’ll be watching and cheering you on!
