“The ideals of good sportsmanship, ethical behaviour and integrity should permeate all interscholastic athletics in our communities. In perception and practice, good sportsmanship shall be defined as those qualities of behaviour which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. Our athletic fields should be the laboratory to produce good citizens reflecting fair play in every area of life.”
In every ASAA competition there is a winner and a loser. Interscholastic sports is about so much more than winning or losing. ASAA has long been an advocate of good sportsmanship at our provincial championship events and starting this month is expanding the way it recognizes instances of good sportsmanship.
Introducing the Sportsmanlike Athlete of the Month. This recognition aims to shine a spotlight on the countless athletes who demonstrate those true values of school sport at EVERY competition they’re a part of.
