The ASAA Virtual Track & Field Challenge in ON!

But how does it work for Unified Sports teams and Para athletes?

Unified Sports

Participants:

Each Unified Sports team will be made up of one athlete (student with an intellectual disability) and one partner (student without an intellectual disability). Each team is exactly two participants. Your school can have multiple teams.

The Events:

Both participants will do all of the three events:

  • Standing long jump
  • Softball throw
  • 400m Run

The events do not need to be done at school. The teammates do not physically need to be in the same place to record their performances; the videos can be taken separately and added together after.

IMPORTANT: the AthleticNET platform is only set up for individual submissions so the Unified team submissions will look a bit different than the other events. For Unified teams, only one teammate will need to register and submit results. When that teammate submits their team results, please include the picture or videos for both teammates as well as the names of both teammates in the same submission.
How to Participate:
  • Both team members will record and measure their performance for all three events (i.e. BOTH the athlete and the partner will do the standing long jump, softball throw, and 400m run).
  • One team member will upload all of the recordings to the Athletic.net platform and list both team members names in the description.
  • Before June 5, one coach from your school will need to log into the platform and verify the results fo the team. Click here to learn more about the validation process.

Para Athletes

The Events:

Please visit the para event page on Athletics.net for the full list of events.

Everyone: How to Register:

Schools:

Every ASAA member school already has a profile with Athletic.net. One person from your school will need to log into the school account and get the school code to share with their students.

Students/Parents:

Students will need to download the AthleticAPP and sign up, then use the school code to attach to their school. Parents may also choose to sign up for their child and manage the account.
