Unified Bocce Team from Bert Church High School Wins Gold at the Special Olympics Ontario Invitational Youth Games

The Invitational Youth Games is a Special Olympics Ontario school championship with traditional and Unified events in Basketball, Bocce, Track & Field, Soccer, and Floor Hockey. Last year, both Saskatchewan and Manitoba sent school teams to compete in different sports at this event. This year, Alberta attended to compete in Unified Bocce team as a joint effort between the ASAA and support from Special Olympics Alberta.

2018 AGM Award Recipients and Hall of Fame Inductees

The Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association celebrated the outstanding contributions of outgoing Executive Members and Commissioners, as well as the Media, Sportsmanlike Coach, and Inductees into the High School Sports Hall of Fame, and the annual Routledge Award recipient- the highest honour to be bestowed on an award recipient by the ASAA.

FREE Para Athletics Clinics

Wheelchair Sport Alberta and Athletics Alberta are hosting a Para Athletics Clinic in Calgary aimed at new coaches, returning coaches, athletes, parents, or anybody else who is interested in creating a more accessible sport organization for their region in the province of Alberta.

Athletics Canada Foundation Scholarship

Athletics Canada understands the importance of introducing and keeping youth involved in athletics. As a result, the Athletics Canada Foundation is pleased to announce funding for two scholarships for 2018 graduating high school student-athletes. The $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to one male and one female multi-sport athlete with a passion for athletics who is graduating from high school and committed to continuing athletic and academic pursuits in Canada.
