Becoming Para Ready
While athletics is a highly inclusive sport that offers opportunities for almost all athletes to play, more often than not, only para athletes who can be most easily accommodated actually get to play. This is largely because athletics programs don’t have the capacity, knowledge, and confidence to support all para athletes. In addition, there is a lot of confusion about what the integration policy is, what it means, and what it looks like at the grassroots level.

The ASAA Staff and Executive continue to monitor the direction Albertans receive from Alberta Health Services as it impacts the next steps for our programs. Our next scheduled update will be released on Monday, May 4, 2020. Please be safe and find ways to stay active within the guidelines Albertans have received.

Winter Newsletter is now Available.

Due to the change in the AGM date, all Award Nomination Deadlines have been extended to March 1, 2020. This includes Routledge Award of Merit and Hall of Fame. Please click on either item to submit your nomination.

Athletes and coaches who are interested in learning more about para athletics are invited to an inclusive track & field camp hosted by the Steadward Centre. This camp will be offered twice this school year: March 14-15 at MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray and April 25-26 at Crosslink County Sportsplex in Grand Prairie. Coach sessions are free; athlete sessions are $45. Call 780-492-3182 to register, no experience necessary.
